PRESS RELEASE
Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch welcomes the declaration by the Hon’bl. President of India in his address to the joint session of Parliament the intention of Narendra Modi government by announcing that “Special efforts will be made to ensure that Kashmiri Pandits return to the land of their ancestors with full dignity, security and assured livelihood”.
JKVM appreciates the commitment of BJP led NDA government and expresses gratitude on behalf of the displaced community for making the return and rehabilitation a priority issue for the new government. This announcement has further strengthened the trust in the new regime as it is for the first time in almost 25 years that the Union government has made the return issue a priority objective.
JKVM earnestly hopes that the genuine representatives of the community will be appropriately involved while finalizing the details of the actual plan. JKVM also stresses the need to ensure that the thrust of the policy is more on security, socio-political empowerment and not on mere economics of it. JKVM urges upon the government to speed up the process of solving the basic human problems of the community that include education, health care issues and the employment of the youth.
JKVM once again thanks leadership of the BJP in general and Hon’bl. Prime Minister sh. Narendra Modi in particular for taking right steps in addressing the major issues of the displaced community.
